Isla Mujeres - Women Island - what better place in the world for a Girl's Weekend!
With only four days to escape the realities of everyday life, Isla Mujeres is a short 4 hour flight, but takes us from the frigid east coast to the warm sunshine of this gorgeous Mexican island.
From the moment we step out of the airport in Cancun, and are greeted by our personal driver, who whisks us off to the ferry terminal (with a full cooler of cervaza to cool us off), escorts us to the ferry and gives us the name of the driver who will meet us on the other side, stop for groceries, and escort us to our beautiful penthouse at Ixchel Beach Hotel.
Inside, our penthouse has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room. A huge balcony off the Master and living rooms also has the spiral staircase leads us up to the most awesome part of the penthouse, the 1,400 square foot terrace area (elevator access also) with close to 360 degree views of the island.
The amazing top-floor terrace is complete with loungers and a gorgeous hot tub with glass surround that overlooks Playa Norte, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean!
On top of our wonderful surroundings, we are in walking distance of dozens of bars, restaurants and shopping, which is really good because the weather was not quite so wonderful. So what do you do when you are in paradise and the heavens open up (continuously) and your dream (above) turns in to your reality (below)?
DRINK... & EAT!
And were we in the right place to do it! With over 25 bars and restaurants within a half mile radius, we were off on our fun (& wet) adventure!
Eventually the sun did come out (for a few hours) and we had our time to enjoy our tropical paradise, hanging on the beautiful white sand beach in the gorgeous caribbean blue water.
After 4 days of fun, food and friends, getting ready to leave our island paradise, we were greeted by a rainbow wishing us farewell.
